Canolfan Dewi Sant Centre

A drop-in resource for individuals living chaotic lifestyles…


Canolfan Dewi Sant Centre was originally established in 2003 in West Rhyl, and is located at in Clwyd Buildings, Clwyd Street, Rhyl – opposite the family court.


Services offered:
  • Hot food and drinks – we serve hot drinks, toast & and jam between 09:30 – 11am, a hot dinner with cold drinks between 12pm – 13:00 & drinks 15:00 – 15:00 – 15:30.
  • Shower facility – we provide towels, shampoo, shower gel, shaving paraphernalia & toothbrushes.
  • Clothes store – we have limited access to second hand clothes.
  • One to one support – we are able to help individuals address issues and identify appropriate courses of action. We work in partnership with many local agencies who offer specialist help & support, complementing the work we do.
  • Training – we can offer training in basic Skills, IT, Life Skills & Pre Tenancy Awareness. We also undertake arts and crafts, primarily on a therapeutic basis.
  • Mentoring service – we have trained volunteer mentors who are able to provide extra support to some service users in the community
  • Entertainment – We have digital TV; card and board games available. We also do a sporting activity on a Thursday afternoon. Sports / activities programme.

How to Access the Centre:

The centre operates an open-door policy, however in order ro access services, people must fit one or more of the following criteria:

  • Homeless of NFA
  • Serious Drug & Alcohol Misuse
  • Mental Health Issues

New services users will be registered on arrival. In the event that an individual does not fit the criteria, but requires help / support, centre staff will assist in finding suitable alternatives wherever possible.

There is no upper age constraint for participants accessing the service, the centre caters for anybody who is 16+. However we, recognise the vulnerability of adolescent service user and therefore seek to find alternative help/support for them ASAP. All the facilities at the centre are disabled friendly.


What type of help & support are offered at Canolfan Dewi Sant?

Among other things:

  • We have excellent links with a range of local agencies including housing specialists, who could help participants find & maintain suitable accommodation.
  • We can help individuals address & access appropriate help for substance misuse and/or mental health and support them into relative stability.
  • We will help find out about local employment, training and education opportunities
  • We can advise re: budgeting & debt management issues
  • We offer one-to-one help and support with from filling & IT requirements
  • We encourage confidence, self esteem and motivation.

We can also help service users look at things like:

  • Relapse prevention
  • Finding new interests
  • Meeting new people
  • Alternative lifestyles…
