The Annual Report on Drug Related Deaths in North Wales was presented at the recent meeting of the North Wales Drug Related Death Review Panel meeting. It was noted that Benzodiazepines were a common issue, as part of the poly drug use which caused the deaths of many of the cases reviewed. Maldwyn Roberts who Chair's the group commented:

" We have prepared our annual report for 2006 which outlines the common themes that have arisen during our deliberations. Certainly the prescribing of Benzodiazepines by GPs is of concern. This was also highlighted at the National Drug Death Review Conference held in Manchester on 15th November 2006. It has now been identified as a problem in Scotland as well."
